Navajo tacos are a fun spin on traditional tacos, made with puffy, crunchy Indian fry bread. Serve them with ground beef, beans, and any other favorite taco toppings.
It’s a simple dish that is easy to make and delicious! You can add your own spice blend to make it more flavorful and exciting!
Spice Blends
There are a variety of North American spice combinations that can be used to season Navajo tacos. These include cumin, chili powder, garlic and onion powder.
You can also use chipotle pepper for added heat. You can adjust the amount of spices depending on your taste preferences.
Homemade spice blends are a great way to save money and avoid additives and preservatives that are often found in store-bought blends. They are also more fresh and flavorful than most store-bought spices.
For example, a homemade Mexican seasoning blend can be a more authentic version of the taco seasoning that you’ll buy in packets at the grocery store. It also allows you to control the amount of salt and spice that is in the mix.
Seasonings
Navajo tacos are a fun twist on traditional tacos, using puffy and crunchy fried fry bread and hearty ground beef, beans, and any of your favorite taco toppings.
A Navajo taco is a tasty, satisfying and easy meal. You can make them with any combination of tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, olives, and sour cream.
To make Navajo tacos, first cook the Navajo fry bread in a pan of hot grease (about an inch deep). Next, top with the seasoned ground beef and any other favorite taco toppings.
Taco seasonings are often available in powdered form and include chili powder, cumin, garlic, paprika, onion and oregano. You can vary these by adjusting the spice amounts and adding or subtracting salt.
To keep your homemade taco seasoning mix fresh, store it in an airtight jar in a cool, dark place. Use it within 6 months to a year for optimal freshness.
Garnishes
Navajo tacos are a unique take on a taco, using a soft, fluffy fry bread topped with ground beef with chili beans and a variety of toppings. They are a fun, rich and filling meal that’s easy to customize to your taste.
The base for a Navajo taco is a homemade fry bread recipe. It’s super simple to make and always turns out soft, fluffy and delicious!
If you aren’t able to make your own fry bread, try using a tube of refrigerated biscuit dough. Just flatten it out, then fry it quickly in a bit of oil!
Top your Navajo tacos with your favorite garnishes like chopped lettuce, avocados, shredded cheese or salsa. This will create a delicious taco that’s perfect for any occasion!
Sauces
Navajo tacos are the perfect spin on your favorite Mexican food. They feature puffy, fried Indian fry bread (a flour tortilla-like version of the classic) and flavorful ground beef and beans, along with any combination of your favorite taco toppings!
The best part is that this recipe can be customized to suit even the pickiest eater. The savory mixture of taco seasoned ground beef and beans can be topped with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream.
These are a favorite for my family and they are so easy to make! They are perfect for a quick weeknight meal.
If you want to make this delicious dish even more authentic, use a traditional Navajo sauce that is made with whole dried New Mexican green chiles. It has a rich & mild smoky flavor that is very popular!

What purpose is Thai spice used?
We've all heard the term "Thai spice" thrown around without knowing exactly what it means. But when we discover our mouths water, we wonder why we haven't been eating more of it.
It's not just any spice. It is an important ingredient that gives flavor and depth to bland dishes.
While there are thousands of Thai-inspired recipes out there, few of them contain the real thing. Let's talk about how to make sure you add these amazing flavors to your meals.
Thais have been using spices and herbs to flavor food and drinks since ancient times. Thai, which means "to make", comes from the Sanskrit word.
Many Thais love spicy foods, even today. This preference can often be attributed to Thailand's hot weather, which makes it hard to stay warm without hot beverages. Thais are also more likely to consume chili peppers as compared to Americans or Europeans.
Visit a local Asian grocery shop to find out more about Thai spices. There are many options available, including dried chilies as well as fresh basil leaves and curry paste.
Also, you may find whole peppercorns.
Thai cuisine uses both dry and wet spices. Dry spices are generally ground, while wet spices can be crushed or pounded finely.
Dry spices can be added to any dish. For example, you can sprinkle ground red pepper onto your chicken soup. Wet spices are commonly mixed with oil or butter to form a paste.
Wet spices are usually used in marinades, sauces, and dressings. Some common wet spices include fish sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, curry paste, and hoisin sauce.
If you want to try making Thai dishes at home, you need to know which spices go well with certain ingredients.
For example, red pepper flakes is recommended for beef. Use white pepper instead if you have seafood such as shrimp.
If you don’t have access or the means to order from an Asian market, it is possible to order online. This market has everything you need, including dried chilies as well as exotic herbs and spices.

How to Store Spices
Keep them away from heat and light.
Place them in a dark cupboard to store spices for extended periods. This will preserve them and prevent any oxidation.
Keep spices dry and away from sunlight in a cool, dry place. A heater or window can cause the spice to lose its aroma and flavour.
Spices should be stored in an airtight tin or glass jar. Avoid storing spices in plastic containers.
Check the seal every time you open and reseal it. Heat can cause moisture to spoil your product.
You don't have to throw out leftover spices. You can make use of them by adding them to your favorite dishes. For an extended shelf life, you can freeze the vegetables.
What are the main Flavours of Thai Cooking?
Thai cuisine includes several distinct regional cuisines. These include Northern, Central, Southern, Eastern, Western, and Northeastern Thai food. Each region has its distinctive flavour profile.
Thai food contains many flavors.
Thais appreciate sweetness. It makes Thai food taste better. Thai cuisine includes sweet ingredients like palm sugar (gulamelaka) or coconut milk.
Thailand is also known for its sourness. Sour foods are often served alongside hot dishes. This helps to balance out the heat.
Thai food also includes spicy food. Thai cuisine is rich in spices like galangal, ginger root and chilli pepper.
What's the difference of curry and curried
The spellings are the same. Both words refer the same thing: Indian food that uses meats and vegetables along with different seasonings.
Curry comes from Hindi word kari that means "to rub". It refers how spice mixtures are applied to food. Curry is typically prepared until the food is golden brown.
Curried dishes were once reserved for special occasions, but today, they're enjoyed frequently throughout India. You can choose from chicken, beef, lamb or fish as well as vegetables and rice.
Plain white rice is often served with curried dishes. Another common accompaniment is raita, a yogurt sauce, and chutney, a sweet relish.
What kind of mint is used to make Thai food?
Lime-leaf mint (Mentha cervina) is the most commonly used type of mint in Thai cuisine.
It has a mild, lemony flavour that adds freshness and zing to dishes. To enhance Thai cuisine's flavour, other spices like galangal, coriander, lemongrass and garlic are often added.
Mint is versatile and can be used both in sweet and savoury recipes. Using the right spices, herbs, and aromatics is essential to achieving delicious authentic Thai flavours.
next time you make a Thai dish, don't forget to include some lime-leaf mint for extra flavour!
Happy cooking!
